You're invited to my education town hall!
Join me on Monday, August 26, at 6 p.m. to discuss the redesign of Indiana's high school diploma's.
Dear neighbor,
Last week, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) announced the second draft of its proposal to redesign Indiana's high school diplomas. The official proposal has not been published, but the preliminary updates include three new diploma tracks students can choose. The new diploma requirements will start with the Class of 2029 (this academic year's eighth graders).
I’ve received an outpouring of concern from House District 71 parents and educators about the ongoing diploma redesign. Clark and Floyd Counties are well known for their quality public schools that set our students up to be lifelong learners. The draft released last week included increased academic rigor, and could benefit from input to further refine external employment concerns.
As the IDOE’s fall comment period, I’m holding a town hall so our community can review the work done, share thoughts, ask questions and learn more about the updated proposal with stakeholders, education leadership and business professionals. The town hall will take place at this time and location:
Jeffersonville City Hall (500 Quartermaster Court, Room 101, Jeffersonville, IN 47130).
Monday, August 26 at 6 p.m.
Thank you for your feedback and involvement on this topic, and I hope you continue to participate as we enter the fall public comment period. Please feel free to share the below graphic with your friends, family and colleagues! I hope to see you at the town hall!
In service,
Wendy
